Peckwater Quad

Peckwater Quad

This is the second largest quad in Christ Church and is on the site of a medieval inn, which had been run by the Peckwater family and which was given to St Frideswide’s Priory in 1246.

The staircases on the three sides of the quad were built by William Townesend between 1706 and 1711. The south side of the quad houses the Library, which dates from later in the 18th century.

All Oxford Experience classes, with the exception of the Music classes, take place in Peckwater Quad.
