2018 Week 5 Course 11

The Women of the Wars of the Roses

Glenn Richardson

Week 5

29 July - 4 August 2018

The ‘Wars of the Roses’ was a family feud. Although men fought its many bloody battles, it was often the women of the houses of York and Lancaster who managed and manipulated their outcomes. This course investigates how, as queens consort, regents, wives, sisters, daughters and nieces, the aristocratic and gentry women of England played significant, and sometimes crucial roles, in the events and outcomes of the Wars of the Roses.
