The Fixing Genes

This course introduces the basics of the human gene biology and their role in diseases. In more details, we will look at how genes may be used in fixing disease-damaged biological processes. In particular, how research investigations on genes may lead to the discovery of novel therapeutic targets. We will then continue looking into details on how genes can be used in therapy. This is to get a general understanding of gene manipulation tools and how current technologies may be applied in gene therapy. We will explore the progress in gene therapy and examine its efficiency, practicality, ethics and cost.
